Air Handler Repair & Installation

The core of your indoor airflow. High-precision diagnostics, repairs, and energy-efficient system matching.

What is an Air Handler?

While the outdoor unit (condenser or heat pump) compresses refrigerant, it is the indoor **air handler** that circulates air throughout your home. The air handler contains the blower motor, fan assembly, evaporator coil, air filter, and electronic controls. In homes without a gas furnace, the air handler also houses backup electric heat strips. Because the air handler regulates both airflow and temperature exchange, keeping it in top condition is essential for overall system performance and air quality.

Common Air Handler Failure Signs

If your system is experiencing airflow issues or noise, it is likely the air handler needs service:

  • No Air Blowing from Vents: Indicates a failed blower motor, a burnt control board, or a failed capacitor.
  • Frozen Evaporator Coil: If you see ice forming on the indoor unit or pipes, the coil is frozen. This is caused by restricted airflow (dirty filters, closed vents) or a refrigerant leak. Running a frozen system can destroy the compressor.
  • Loud Screeching or Clanking: Clanking noises point to a loose blower wheel, while screeching indicates a motor with failed bearings.
  • Dirty or Moldy Odors: Moisture naturally condensation on the indoor coil during cooling. If the drain line is clogged or the coil is dirty, mold and bacteria can develop, creating odors and degrading indoor air quality.

Professional Air Handler Installations

When replacing an outdoor heat pump or AC system, it is vital to install a matched air handler. An unmatched system cannot achieve its rated efficiency, leads to premature compressor failure, and violates manufacturer warranties. We offer modern variable-speed air handlers that adjust airflow precisely, eliminating cold drafts and lowering utility bills.
